Solar Wind: Giant Airship:
Disaster Rescue Vehicle: DRV.
A Flying Saucer?!?

Solar Wind
A 1000mtr (1KM) diameter 250mtr high Airship: Primary function; to be used as an Emergency vehicle in disaster areas.
Solar Wind can be rapidly moved to any disaster area, to remain hovering throughout the ‘Rescue Mission’.
Solar Wind will provide Medical, Rescue, Emergency & Accommodation facilities for victims and emergency personnel.

Medical/Hospital, Emergency & Accommodation Modules can be rapidly & easily installed into the ‘Spokes’ of Solar Wind, to provide a comprehensive, High Tech rapid response emergency vehicle & Centre that can be rapidly moved into any situation or environment.

In the Upper Atmosphere (Stratosphere) Jet Stream winds of up to 250 mph are normal, travelling in opposite directions, depending on the hemisphere. Much like sailing ships of old, Solar Wind can utilise these strong Jet Steam winds to move anywhere, rapidly with very little expenditure of energy.

Solar Wind operates entirely on electrical energy derived from Photovoltaic Solar Cells covering the upper half of the craft. Positioning and propulsion propellers are electrically driven through ‘Dyno-Motors’ – ‘Wind Generators’, which can be instantly switched to operate as propulsion motors or electric generators.

Solar Wind also uses dual ‘Hydrostatic Gases’ (Lifting Gases) both Hydrogen & Helium.
Hydrogen has 6 times the ‘Lifting Capacity’ of Helium. Using internal segmented envelopes (Gas Bags) to rapidly change part or all the Hydrostatic gas from the normal Helium to Hydrogen.

The advantage of this action could be manifold, for example, if Solar Wind required to lift a large amount of water, to fight a serious forest fire (an ever increasing hazard as global warming increases) or to provide irrigation water in a drought area, Solar wind could haul 12,000 Tons of water, instead of the normal 2,000 Ton payload.
